Veterinary Technician

Mindy joined our team in April of 2018 as a veterinary technician. She has been working in this field for 13 years and has had a lot of interesting experiences. Since she was a young child, she always wanted to be a veterinarian, and she loves being able to fulfill her dream working with animals every day. One of her favorite parts of her job is educating clients on up-to-date veterinary information and the best practices of caring for their pets. Mindy also appreciates the dedication of the entire stalff for the care and well-being of their patients. One of her greatest accomplishments of her career has been hand-raising and bottle-feeding neonatal kittens until old enough for adoption.

Mindy has a daughter and son at home as well as two dogs, four cats, two rats, and a hamster. In her spare time, she enjoys rollerblading with her dogs, spending time with her family and doing jigsaw puzzles, as well as making paper mâché sculptures!

Dawnell Douglas

Office Manager/Technician

Dawnell joined the Stetson Hills Animal hospital team in June 2016. Dawnell has been passionate about caring for animals since she was little, and she has now been serving in the animal care industry for over 20 years. She enjoys meeting new clients at the animal hospital and getting to know their fur kids, plus there are many perks working with such an amazing team as well! She also enjoys working toward the Stetson Hills Animal Hospital goal to be a Fear Free Practice. She also has several pets including 2 cats named Simba and Squirrel and 4 dogs named Kos, Kyliegh, Pixie, and Zoey. She is proud of her calming demeanor which is very helpful when working with animals!

Sarah J.

Veterinary Technician

Sarah attended University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill as well as Gaston College, and earned two bachelor’s degrees in psychology and sociology and an associate’s degree in veterinary medical technology. In 2014, she passed the veterinary technician national examination (VTNE) to become a registered veterinary technician (RVT). Her past has included a variety of interesting experiences such as living in Sydney, Australia for several years as a kid, working as a substance abuse counselor, and even running anesthesia during an endoscopy for a mountain lion at the Kansas City Zoo!

In her current role, she loves that there’s something different to handle every day, and it’s always a pleasure to get to know the pets and owners. While she loves all animals, she has a soft spot for bats. In the practice, she’s also known for consuming startling amounts of coffee.

Sarah is married to her husband Scott, and they have a lazy-bones hound dog named Maggie D. Wonderdog. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and trying new local breweries. Interestingly, she made it to the contestant pool for Jeopardy, but wasn’t picked (alas!).

Veterinary Technician

Christian came to our practice in September 2016. She’s always had a great love for animals, and coming to our practice allows her to pursue her passion. Christian attended Kaplan College for her veterinary education, and she’s able to use what she has learned every day with us. Her favorite parts about our practice are the great team she gets to work with, and our dedication to providing a “fear free” atmosphere for pets. Christian has two dogs, Lucas and Chapo, and when she is not at work she enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Kristi Norgaard

Kristi joined our team in November of 2016. She attended Northwest Missouri State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree. Her favorite part of working at Stetson Hills is seeing all the different pets that come in, and having the opportunity to meet and assist people with all of their pet needs.

Kristi has 2 grown children with her husband, Bill, and they have one dog, a yellow lab mix named Cali (dogs are Kristi’s favorite animal). In her spare time, she enjoys watching sports, hiking, taking long walks, watching movies, and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Fiona was found as a kitten abandoned and alone on the side of the road on July 9, 2008. Here at the hospital, we took to her right away and it was a joy to watch her grow. She spends her time greeting clients, socializing with the puppies, and being mischievous.
